A senior Operations Director appointment that requires an experienced industry professional to take a multi-site business into a new level of modern manufacturing performance.

Job Description

Part of a large national food group, this multi-site operation is both high and low care.  It manufactures short shelf life product for major food manufacturers and foodservice businesses - both major global brands and leading UK food companies. 

Reporting to the Managing Director, the role will focus on the development and implementation of a complete new set of operational standards more in line with modern manufacturing practices.  It will require extensive hands-on involvement in re-defining KPIs and delivering these through the management team, and as a result will need a real personal commitment to performance improvement. This level of operational involvement will be considerably more in the first year than perhaps is the norm at this seniority of appointment, but ongoing development of manufacturing strategy, planning systems and business expansion plans will come into play once day to day high standards are set and achieved.

The successful candidate will have a good breadth of experience from food manufacturing, including both automated production and more people focused product assembly.  You will have led a multi-site team and have strong examples of both KPI systems and people development initiatives that have contributed to business improvement.  Your remit will be operational in focus, but the client also seeks someone who has well developed commercial acumen as a senior manager on the Exec Team.  You will be very Continuous Improvement focused and will have a range of Lean Management skills to call upon as required.  By nature, you will be someone who likes to know the detail as well as the broad vision, and will be happy to lead from the front on the factory floor.

This is a role that our client wishes to fill quickly so the project will move to interview within a couple of weeks.
