A stand alone P&L accountable General Manager role running a chilled foods business, part of a major international group.

The client is a large and well respected international food business that is sector leader across added value chilled foods. With a turnover around £1.5bn and with companies across the UK, it works in partnership with a wide variety of customers. This particular business unit is a leading supplier into the NHS and provides a portfolio of high quality food products on a daily basis to demanding customer specification and supply chain requirements.

As General Manager you are accountable for the strategic and operational direction of the business, and delivery of the turnover and profit objectives. Leading an executive team and fairly large workforce you will have full autonomy. The role will suit a senior manager who has come from a commercial or operational background, and this may be a first appointment into a GM position. You may well have worked supplying the leading retailers or foodservice companies in the past, and that is fine because the client has no requirement for past experience in working with the NHS. What is necessary are true leadership ability, a strong commercial acumen, a real commitment to developing workable customer partnerships, and a passion for product quality and innovation. You must be someone who takes personal ownership for your product, people and process.

Based in Essex, the role will work closely with sister businesses within the Group at times.
